Hope is a beautiful thing by Mark Groves

Hope is a beautiful thing, but it becomes a prison when our own hope sits in the hands of someone else's desire to choose, change, and show up for us.

Hope is the most powerful ingredient to transformation. Pain, sure, fuels that that fire that burns from within... but hope is that light at the end of the tunnel. It's the desired outcome. It's who we know ourselves to be deep inside. Hope is connected to consciousness. It resonates from our soul. It's the love we seek that is forever present within the present moment, but we just don't know know how to hold quite yet.

Our hope, however, placed in the hands of another, dependent on their ability to change, choose or be something they currently are not changing, choosing, or being, is a prison. Why? Because our hope then lives outside of us. It is only lit and extinguished by another's actions and choices. Hope, when placed outside of us, is not hope, it's dependency.

It's the wishes of a young child that someone will finally choose us and show up for us. It lives at the core of unworthiness, where someone else decides the course of our lives and how we feel about ourselves. When someone is the holder of someone else's home, it becomes an unconscious way they control the depth of connection and intimacy... It is a protective mechanism so as to never go too deep... to never expose their heart. They hold someone else's hope, because, in some sense, they lost a connection to their own.

Look for where you place hope in your life. Look for where you place your future in another's hands. Look for how you give your power away. If you hold hope and someone else's future is dependent on you, look for where you lost a connection to choosing your own life, so you live in the power of choosing another's... thereby not feeling like you can trust and guide your own. The way out for both sides is learning to honour and get to know your full-bodied and full-hearted "yes" and "no".

The reclamation is here. It's time you took your power back
