Resolutions, why's, and all the feels.

Updated: Apr 11, 2020

Hey friends, Coach Megan here!

We are now towards the end of January 2020.

Quickly approaching the end of the 1st month of the year, the decade even...HOLY FREAKING MOLY.

Time is not slowing down, and life is happening people.

You may have set some goals around getting on track with your personal health. That may have meant dialing in your nutrition, getting to the gym, or working on your mental health, all of which are great goals.

But, maybe now that it's the end of January, you’ve come to a point where you have lost steam, possibly motivation, and/or questioning why you set out to do such goals?

I want to dig deeper into that last part—questioning why you set out to attain the goals you are striving for.  WHY.

Big, bold, 3 letter word.

Why are you doing what you are doing?

Why come January 1, 2020 did you commit to yourself to eat better, work out more, adopt healthier habits, give yourself more love, etc?

Do you remember what caused you to have the thoughts of “something needs to change?”

What was it for YOU?

What was the pivotal point or series of events that led to you deciding you wanted better habits and a healthier lifestyle?

For me personally, when it comes to my health habits, I know when I treat my body like a garbage disposal, (i.e.  eat everything in sight with no self control, justify why I can eat this, workout excessively, or not get enough sleep)—I feel like shit...utter crap actually.

I show up as a “shell” of myself.

I am not able to perform and lead my team at work. I am forgetful.

I am more negative, my self talk goes down the drain, and I lose confidence in myself.

All of these feelings and actions lead me to wanting something different.

The reality is, if I keep doing what I am doing, treating my body like garbage, then I will get what I’ve always got.

So this sparks the thought of “something’s got to change."

Boom, thats where resolutions come in.

So now, back to the original statement of it being close to the end of January.

Shifting habits and breaking old patterns is tough work.

There is no sugar coating it.

If you are in the boat of losing steam or questioning why you are working towards new, healthier habits… recall WHY you started.

Remember what it felt like the day you decided you wanted a different outcome, the life you were living or the habits you had in place were not serving you.

Try resurfacing those feelings so you can remember exactly what sensations provoked inside of you that demanded something HAS to shift.

Developing new habits and desiring a better life for yourself regarding nutrition, health, or lifestyle causes you to go against the grain.

You are different because you are putting in the TOUGH, TOUGH work of reaching your goals.

Are you going to crumble and give up because some days it feels like you won’t reach the goal, or it’s too hard?

Or are you going to remember WHY you decided you had enough of the habits that weren’t serving you, therefore you are determined to put in the work and achieve a better life that you know you DESERVE?

Continuing crushing your goals my friends.

Surround yourself with people that are pursuing and dreaming just as big or even bigger than you are.

You are the sum of the 5 people you surround yourself with and YOU have choice in that. Choose wisely!
